When we were writing a bunch of songs we decided to try tuning everything down for a change, just to see what we could come up with. This song is one of several we wrote but that made the cut. It’s the only song since forever it feels like that doesn’t have any keys or synthesizers to lay atmosphere or melody. It’s stripped down but with a ”less is more”-touch to it, just guitars, bass and drums but still creates a wall of sound and a real punch. We wanted to try to make something that was more of a ”headbanger song” and drew inspiration from one of our fav band, O’Brother. We also got a lot of inspiration from Caspian as well as Pg.Lost (who’s from the same city as us). This song turns up as a surprise after some more mellow songs, which was the intentions. It’s about the frustration of what’s going on and what we can’t achieve, it’s sort of a realization.
Moonlit Sailor has been one of my very first bands I found in the Post Rock universe. I instantly fell in love with the song Hope the very first time I listened it, I just became happy and hopeful straight away, so thanks a lot for that amazing song !! The rest of the album is also very good and does complete the ambiance around this very unique atmosphere ! Simon Bastien
I first heard Pillars when I attended Post. Fest 2018 to hear Heron play (I have 2 talented nephews who are members of that band). I thought the guys in Pillars sounded tight and awesome. This album, CAVUM, just proves even more so that I was correct! My favorites on the album are Dissolution and Black Prayer, but plenty of excellent sounds here! Kenneth Blick
