This was also an early song written, but then we forgot about it. When we had reached nearly 30 various songs, demos, snippets and whatever and went back to look at what we got we sort of re-discovered. By that point we thought it would be a perfect fit to what we had and what the album sounded like right now so it fell back quite naturally after a few tweaks. It was inspired by our favorite band Thrice with a mix of, again, the ambient songs by Riley Breckenridge from Thrice. It blends something mellow while reaching for something beautiful. But it can’t really reach it and it ends mellow and sad, sort of like it’s giving up. The working title was ”smog”, like smog covers something beautiful like an amazing view of a city or nature. We changed it to ”Lost Skylines” in the end, bearing the same meaning. No matter how hard we try to enjoy the beautiful view we know is there, we can’t see it.
Moonlit Sailor has been one of my very first bands I found in the Post Rock universe. I instantly fell in love with the song Hope the very first time I listened it, I just became happy and hopeful straight away, so thanks a lot for that amazing song !! The rest of the album is also very good and does complete the ambiance around this very unique atmosphere ! Simon Bastien
Take a trip through the cosmos with these gorgeously expansive songs, that move from haunting ambiance to driving EBM. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 6, 2021
I first heard Pillars when I attended Post. Fest 2018 to hear Heron play (I have 2 talented nephews who are members of that band). I thought the guys in Pillars sounded tight and awesome. This album, CAVUM, just proves even more so that I was correct! My favorites on the album are Dissolution and Black Prayer, but plenty of excellent sounds here! Kenneth Blick
